Moving forward, I’m going to do my best to slow down sometimes and pat myself on the back, because we should always be kind to ourselves first and foremost!
Aaaand, here we go.
Welcome to my ramblings that I’ll be doing at the end of every month!
Here I’ll talk about the latest updates on some of my works, events coming up, recaps on future trips, and maybe some unwarranted life advice from your friendly neighborhood Javi!
That said, we’ve reached the end of the first month of2025 and while I thought I was probably going to take a break this month, Inadvertently got myself involved in a plethora of projects. Enough so that I came home on a Friday after work feeling so overwhelmed I made myself a to-do list for the month in my journal, looked at the list, and passed out by 9:30pm.
If you keep up with my Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve already completed 3 pieces this month, started a 4th, and am signed up for a gallery on February 7th-9th now! That’s what’s out there on my page, but on top of that I’m working on updating my zine “Triforze #1,” I’ve enlisted myself to format the next 2 Apollo City Comics anthologies, and I’ve been making plans to do a little “book tour” in March –but more on that in the following month!
To focus on the now, I’ve completed 2 pieces in preparation for my first gallery of the year at the Brooklyn Art Cave! It’ll be for the Portals of Love Gallery curated by Adriana Bugarin (@bugzzz_z) on February 7th – 9th! It’ll consist of a total of 26 artists and opening night will have live musical performances, as well! As you can tell by the name of the gallery, it’s love-themed just in time for Valentines! I have my pieces that I completed for the gallery here on my site as well as some process videos on my Instagram! If you’re interested in buying a print and seeing the art in person, then come out to the Portals of Love Gallery!

Before sitting down to write this, I actually went through my to-do list and noticed how much of it was checked off. I recently had to remind myself as well this month – looking at my art books that I’ve now filled over the course of the last 5 years – that I should try to slow down sometimes and smell the roses. Not that I feel burnt out or anything, but I think it’s important to always maybe take a step back and recognize the work that’s been put in; sometimes we’re too focused on the next day, on the next goal, on the next assignment that we kind of get put on auto-pilot and it’s easy to stop appreciating the work you’ve put in when you’re in that mindset.
Moving forward, I’m going to do my best to slow down sometimes and pat myself on the back, because we should always be kind to ourselves first and foremost!
